The Project Manager role supports the delivery of complex, enterprise technology programmes. The position requires a structured, hands-on approach to managing project scope, plans, delivery milestones, and governance, with a focus on achieving agreed outcomes for clients. Responsibilities include coordinating cross-functional teams and workstreams and supporting end-to-end delivery and integration activities across the wider Microsoft platform.

The Project Manager is a core member of KPMG customer delivery, responsible for day-to-day project management activities including planning, RAID management, stakeholder communications, and status reporting. The role works closely with onshore and offshore delivery teams, ensuring delivery is coordinated, risks and issues are managed, and dependencies are understood and tracked through to resolution.

This role is an important element of KPMG Microsoft Business Solutions’ delivery capability. The position includes a combination of on-the-job coaching and structured training, working with more senior colleagues to support the continued development of project delivery skills and career progression. The role contributes to a rapidly growing business area within an established and market-leading global Big 4 firm.

 

Main Responsibilities

Project Responsibilities

  • Aligns project objectives with projects' goals and delivery plans.
  • Escalates risks and issues with structured recommendations for resolution.
  • Tracks delivery against defined project KPIs and milestones.
  • Maintains detailed project plans and schedules aligned to programme roadmaps.
  • Manages project milestones and supports governance reporting.
  • Provides updates to programme managers and governance forums.
  • Produces project status reports highlighting progress, risks, and issues.
  • Drives issue resolution and is accountable for delivery impact.
  • Manages day‑to‑day stakeholder communication and delivery coordination.
  • Coordinates project resources and escalates gaps to programme leadership.
  • Owns project budgets, forecasts, and financial performance.
  • Applies delivery standards and contributes to process improvement.
  • Monitors project KPIs and supports corrective actions.
  • Supports delivery of project benefits and handover to operations.
  • Ensures project activities comply with relevant policies and standards.
  • Leads project teams and coordinates cross‑functional delivery.
  • Ensures project deliverables meet quality standards and client expectations.
  • Supports estimation and planning during pre‑sales engagements.

Practice Responsibilities

  • Focuses on delivering projects in line with established objectives and adapts plans when required.
  • Applies established governance processes and ensures project compliance.
  • Ensures project teams follow defined processes, templates, and delivery standards.
  • Identifies delivery issues and escalates improvement opportunities.
  • Ensures project processes are followed and supports operational governance.
  • Tracks project performance using defined KPIs and contributes to practice reporting.
  • Highlights project risks, issues, and required actions in reporting.
  • Works with teams to resolve project‑level issues and ensure corrective actions are completed.
  • Supports resource planning and escalates gaps to programme or practice leads.
  • Ensures project risks and issues are documented, assessed, and managed.
  • Leads project teams and coordinates cross‑functional delivery.
  • Supports pre‑sales with planning, estimation, and delivery input.
  • Produces regular project performance reports for governance forums.
  • Provide on-site support as required by company or client.
  • Performance manage and/or mentor junior members of the team.
  • Applies organisational processes, standards, and delivery methods.

  • Ensure timely completion of internal processes and mandatory training.
  • Carry out additional duties as may occur from time to time as instructed and agreed by senior members.

Experience and Background

  • 5–7+ years managing projects or workstreams within programmes.
  • Proven experience delivering medium‑complexity projects with cross‑functional teams.
  • Strong understanding of project governance and ability to apply established frameworks.
  • Experience coordinating project teams and managing day‑to‑day delivery activities.
  • Able to translate project objectives into delivery plans and milestones.
  • Experience tracking KPIs, reporting progress, and supporting corrective actions.
  • Strong capability in identifying, documenting, and managing project‑level risks and issues.
  • Experience managing project budgets, forecasts, and financial tracking.
  • Supports definition and tracking of project benefits.
  • Provides input into planning, estimation, and delivery approaches during pre‑sales.
  • Deep understanding of the organisation’s domain and delivery environment.

Skills and Qualifications

  • A degree in business administration or a related field will be considered an asset. 
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Experienced in Agile project management, ideally with direct experience and knowledge of tools including Azure DevOps, Jira, VSTS, TFS, and of methodologies including Scrum and Kanban.
  • Ideally experience and specialism in ERP and / or CRM implementation projects, preferably utilising the Microsoft stack.
  • Able to produce high quality and professional presentations.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to ensure documents are consistent in language, terminology and style.
  • Flexible approach to work with a focus on delivery to deadlines and high standards.
  • Ability to handle highly confidential information with tact and discretion.
