The Project Support Officer (D2) role provides structured delivery support across one or more programmes and projects. The position supports effective governance, reporting, and control activities, requiring a practical understanding of project delivery lifecycle activities, documentation standards, and stakeholder engagement.
The Project Support Officer is a core member of the delivery team, working closely with the Project Manager/Senior Project Manager and workstream leads to coordinate planning inputs, track progress against milestones, and support RAID and dependency management. Responsibilities include producing clear and accurate status reporting and maintaining project artefacts while working effectively with both onshore and offshore teams.
This role is an important element of KPMG Microsoft Business Solutions’ delivery capability. The position includes a combination of on-the-job coaching and structured training, working alongside more senior colleagues to further develop delivery support skills and career progression. The role contributes to a rapidly growing business area within an established and market-leading global Big 4 firm.
Main Responsibilities
Project Responsibilities
- Ensures project documentation, plans, and reporting align with project and programme objectives.
- Prepares structured reports and recommendations for PM/SPM review.
- Maintains KPI dashboards and supports analysis of project performance trends.
- Maintains detailed project schedules and ensures dependencies are accurately reflected.
- Manages milestone logs, ensures governance artefacts are complete, and supports governance meetings.
- Produces clear, accurate project updates for PM/SPM and governance forums.
- Produces structured project status reports highlighting progress, risks, and issues.
- Supports basic trend analysis and identifies early indicators of delivery challenges.
- Coordinates day‑to‑day stakeholder communication on behalf of PM/SPM.
- Coordinates resource needs, maintains utilisation records, and escalates gaps.
- Maintains project financial trackers and supports forecasts owned by PM/SPM.
- Ensures compliance with delivery standards and contributes to process improvement.
- Tracks KPIs, monitors corrective actions, and supports PM/SPM in performance reviews.
- Tracks benefit‑related deliverables and supports transition to operations.

- Ensures project activities comply with policies and supports audit readiness.
- Coordinates project teams and supports onboarding of new team members.
- Supports quality reviews and ensures deliverables meet project expectations.
- Supports estimation, planning inputs, and preparation of delivery documentation for pre‑sales.

- Supports cross‑project corrective action initiatives and ensures follow‑through.

- Provides guidance to APSOs and supports team coordination.
- Supports planning, estimation, and delivery inputs for pre‑sales engagements.

Experience and Background
- 2–4+ years supporting projects or delivery teams.
- Experience supporting full project delivery cycles and multiple workstreams.
- Strong understanding of governance processes and ability to apply frameworks.
- Experience coordinating cross‑functional activities and supporting PM/SPM.
- Able to translate project objectives into structured support activities.
- Experience tracking KPIs, reporting progress, and supporting corrective actions.
- Capability in identifying, documenting, and escalating risks and issues.
- Knowledge in maintaining project budgets, forecasts, and financial trackers.
- Good understanding of the organisation’s domain and delivery environment.
Skills and Qualifications
- A degree in business administration or a related field will be considered an asset.
- Solid understanding in Agile project management, ideally with experience and knowledge of tools including Azure DevOps, and of methodologies including Scrum and Kanban.
- Excellent communication skills in English, both verbally and in writing
- Able to assist in the production of high quality and professional presentations.
- Supports stakeholder communication and meeting coordination.
