Role Overview
The Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations (D365FO) Senior Functional Solution Architect role requires extensive experience across all phases of large-scale enterprise Dynamics 365 F&O projects. With a hands-on approach and proven experience in end-to-end implementations, the role demands a strong understanding of primary processes and procedures, combined with practical knowledge of interfacing and integration with Dynamics products, while championing best practices.
The position requires excellent customer-facing, stakeholder management, and workshop facilitation skills. A demonstrable history of consultancy experience is essential, as the role involves continuous interaction with clients, management of onshore consultants, and collaboration with both onshore and offshore development teams. The role also includes involvement in pre-sales activities focused on Dynamics 365 F&O functionality and the wider Microsoft platform. Additional responsibilities include contributing to proposal development, providing input into business development initiatives, and leading and mentoring team members to support their professional growth and development.

Main Responsibilities
Project Responsibilities
- The Senior Functional Solution Architect will lead the delivery of Microsoft Dynamics 365 solutions following best practice.
- Lead delivery of D365 end-to-end implementation projects including design, configuration, testing, training, cutover, post go-live support & reporting, assuring that the management of area technical assets and systems development lifecycle comply to firm’s ISMP.
- Responsible for leading and managing a team comprising a group of talented Solution Architects and Consultants each holding different levels of expertise.
- Have an exceptional understanding of D365FO technical and functional capabilities.
- Be a champion for both technical and functional leading practice with the solution.
- Leading functional interfaces and Integrations with D365FO.
- Provide on-site support as required by company or client. Work with onsite engagement team & client team to gather requirements, determine expectations & finalize deliverables.
- Advise client and delivery team members of scope (creep) and use of change control processes.
- Define training needs within the team and coach other team members.
- Demonstrate ability around upselling and understanding of additional company capabilities.
- Demonstrate excellent consulting skills, including analytical know-how, written & verbal communication, team participation & presentation skills.
- Solves and advises on complex problems with creative solutions.
- Deliver all consultancy according to the KPMG Methodology, ensuring that all software applications are implemented successfully according to the project plan.
- Meet and exceed customer expectations of business knowledge, skills and behaviour.
- Identify business/project risk and mitigate or communicate as necessary.
- Ensure progress updates are communicated to relevant parties both formally and informally.
Practice Responsibilities
- Understanding of product roadmap and the content of future releases of D365FO, and demonstrate changes/additions to team members.
- Identify practice development activities and strong involvement in the creation and delivery of these to fellow colleagues.
- Collaborate with the Global team to enhance the out of the box Dynamics 365 functionality, giving KPMG a unique selling point and a resalable asset.

Experience and Background
- Minimum 15 years of relevant experience working with Microsoft Dynamics AX and/or Microsoft Dynamics 365 F&O.
- Experience in leading a team of minimum of 20 members.
- Experience of large-scale ERP implementations.
- Experience of thinking clearly and calmly under pressure with sound judgement and decision-making abilities.
- Experience of constantly assessing and incorporating new technologies and software into their skillset.
- Pre-sales experience.
- Business process mapping, modelling, and documentation knowledge.
- Experience of mentoring junior and offshore staff.
Skills and Qualifications
- Master’s degree in business & IT or similar.
- Excellent communication skills in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to lead engagements and present to the C-Suite stakeholders.
- Outstanding understanding of accounting processes, supply chain processes, principles, functionality & systems.
- Deep and broad knowledge of technical capabilities of Dynamics 365, including appropriate certification(s).
- Outstanding knowledge of the following areas of an implementation project life cycle:
- Requirements analysis and documentation
- Business process mapping and modelling
- Development testing and UAT
- Data migration
- Cut-over activities
- Go-live support
- Must be able to show good knowledge of best practices for Dynamics 365.
- Deep knowledge of all core Finance and/or SCM and/or Retail concepts and processes.
- Knowledge of best practices for working with offshore teams.
- Strong MS Office skills (primarily Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio).
- Excellent understanding of Data Migration.
- Knowledge of Power Platform capabilities and Business Intelligence (BI).
- LCS and Azure DevOps knowledge.
- Good understanding of integration tools and technologies.
- Works independently as well as in a team environment.
- Strong client centric approach with emphasis on client satisfaction.
- Broad understanding of software development lifecycle, development management, release management, data migrations, cut-over planning, and early live support.
- Excellent presentation and demonstration skills.
- Knowledge of best practices for working with offshore teams and on multi-national projects.
- Adept at Business Requirement Analysis with a focus on reducing development effort and simplifying deliverables.
